SNMV Institute of Management, was
established in 1994 by the Coimbatore
Welfare Association, with a view to
imparting professional education in the
field of business management. The MBA
programme of SNMVIM is approved by All
India Council of Technical Education (AICTE),
New Delhi, which is the national apex body
that recognizes and approves technical and
professional education in the country.
SNMVIM is affiliated to Bharathiar
University, Coimbatore. The
responsibility for the organization and
governance of SNMVIM rests with the
Coimbatore Welfare Association (CWA). It
has been shaped with a unique blend of
experience, expertise and entrepreneurship
combining innovation and creativity for
excellence. The college is accredited
with 'A' grade by NAAC.
SNMVIM
offers two year full time MBA Post
Graduate Degree Programme with an
opportunity to specialize in the areas
namely Finance, Marketing, Human Resource,
Production Management and Systems
Technology. The other distinguishing
features are case-study approach to
learning, eight week summer internship and
project for each subject throughout the
course. Through PHOENIX (Association of
SNMVIM), facilities like developing
industry linkages through guest lectures,
seminars, summer internships and final
placements are made.
FACULTY
Under the guidance of Dr. J.P. Kumar,
Professor, a team of dedicated teachers,
continuously monitor the corporate
requirements and accordingly train the
students in managerial skills,
communication skills, leadership qualities
etc. The faculty members with their
extensive knowledge and industrial
experience strive to bring a real life
experience into the classroom. SNMVIM is
highly involved in developing faculty
members. The institute has sponsored
faculty to undergo the One year Faculty
Development Programme in Management (FDPM)
at Indian Institute of Management,
Ahmedabad (IIM-A). The institute sponsors
faculty to refresher courses of various
university bodies in the nation. SNMVIM
encourages the faculty members in
research, consultation assignments and
participation in conferences and seminars.
IT
INFRASTRUCTURE
SNMVIM provides the necessary
infrastructure to cater to the training
needs of information technology. It is
equipped with 50 terminals and several
latest software packages including ORACLE,
VISUAL BASIC, C, C++, JAVASCRIPT and
Statistical software. These facilities
enrich the students' projects. The Wi-Fi
Internet facility assists the students and
exposes them to the WWW.
RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES
The Institute offers residential quarters
for faculty members and separate hostels
exist for men and women; it enhances the
utilization of learning facilities
available in the campus, apart from
developing peer groups and faculty-student
interaction, in an informal atmosphere.

Inspired by our mission to secure the
basic essentials of life and impart
professional education to students, the
Institute makes an ongoing investments to
improve the overall performance of the
students. The general management focus
with functional expertise and a global
orientation, which will be the key to
competitive advantage in the future, helps
the students to develop a broad foundation
of skills and knowledge, to become
effective leaders and managers.
PEDAGOGICAL TECHNIQUES
A blend of classroom instruction to help
the students consolidate their
understanding of the subject, case study
approach to offer the opportunity to get a
practical exposure, assignments to promote
development of research techniques and
independent thinking and project work
exercises supplemented with practical
application skills relevant to various
business scenarios are the pedagogical
highlights.
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
The Alumni association brings together
the past students, updates their
resume and maintains regular contact.
So far, nine batches have passed out and
corporate executives, assist the
Institute in student placements, guest
lectures etc.
MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION
To build better managers of tomorrow,
students are encouraged to participate
in co-curricular and extra-curricular
activities. PHOENIX, the management
association of SNMVIM, is a forum through
for sharpening skills in planning and
organizing State and National Level
Seminars. CONGLOMERATE, the
inter-collegiate for the B-Schools in
this part of the country, is an annual
feature. The students also participate
in seminars and management meets
conducted by institutions of repute
and bring name and recognition for self
and to the Institute.
EXTRA CURRICULAR PROGRAMMES
Not to limit the skills, attitudes and
talents of these budding students to
either text books knowledge or to
practical training, they are encouraged to
organize programmes like seminars by
inviting eminent academicians and
practicing executives and to organize
workshops, inter-collegiate management
games etc. These programmes prepares the
men and women with the requisite skills
and to integrate them into real life
situations. The programme brings in a
synergy between theory and practice and
fosters a multilingual, multicultural
environment ideally suited for the
creation of effective leaders. The
Institute encourages and promotes student
self-governance and value based education.
CURRICULUM
The MBA program offered at the Institute
covers the curricula as prescribed by the
Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. The
programme covers 17 core subjects besides
8 electives. The students specialize in
the areas of Finance, Marketing, Human
Resource and Systems. In addition, each
student is required to complete the summer
internship that enables the students to
get acquainted with the practical aspects
of business administration.
